Ole!

Late Nights. A reminiscenes of events that occur ever so often during this couple of weeks. Early days are spend at work, late nights are spend at the nearest mamak stall. A routine of events during this highly anticipated event that occur every four years. Yes, its football. It's the World Cup.

Throughout the entire month, throng of hard core fans surges to the nearest available big screen places to watch their favourite team in action. Big screens have now become a common sight at even the smallest mamak you can find to the biggest foodcourt that remains open through the night to cater to these die hard fans. My usual hangout will be either at the mamak situated opposite my place of stay or meeting up with fellow friends at the ever happening footaball venue, Subang. I can say that the atmosphere is simply estactic around Subang SS15 as mamak stall display their high definition projection to the loads of customers sitting at the side roads. Every mamak stall is virtually packed to the brink. Carpark seem to be a highly sought after item besides the bucket of beers that fans drowned themselves with. Roads are jammed up. Rousing cheers are heard across the sky. This must surely be the most watched sport in Malaysia as well as across the world.

Teams have come and go. Qualifying to the World Cup finals may seem a dream to some of the total 32 nations participating in this tournament. I have always had a thing for dark houses. Teams that many have no expectations of winning, rising to the challenge and giving everyone a good game of football. Trinidad and Tobago, Swiss and Australia seems to catch my attention. Wish the Czech could progress further. Sighting a disgust with the display of Brazil and England. Captivated with the movement of the Argentinians, the youthful Germans and the well struck team performance of France. Unimaginable Ukraine stay in the competition. Breath-taking goals from Frings from distance, Joe Cole's superb volley to the top corner and the superb coordination of the Argentinians for the best team effort in history. The list goes on. These are some of the emotions and feeling that I have throughout the competition. There is more to come.

Its finally down to the last eight. A weeks left to this auspicious event. More late nights to come. I can't wait for the finals. This is the World Cup. Joga Bonito.

Handicapped

SNAP! This was the sound I heard when I felt over the ball. Excruciating pain overwhelmed my entire leg. I had just colided while trying to defend a ball. Thoughts were stiring in mind.

Could I have broken my ankle? Would my leg be in a cast? How am I going to work tomorrow?

I was worried. I could only pray that my fears were just a figment of my imagination.

Steven came to my rescus and ushered me out of the court. Eddy was there to apply ice to my bruised leg to prevent the blood from cloting. The boy I trip myself over came and ask how I felt. I reassured him that everything was alright and that was not his fault that I went to ground.

I was quite surprise that I took the situation quite cooly. In my mind, I knew I could have reacted in various way. I could have been angry and scolded the boy whom I trip over. I could have been frustrated with myself for not getting the ball. I could have been writhing in pain. All I felt was just peace. Peace that everything would be alright and that there was something to learn from this.

What did I learn?

I learn that if you had your ankle fractured, apply ice to prevent the blood from cloting and the injury to be even more worse.

I learn that in times of need there are always people around you to help you through your struggle.

I learn to always encourage the young ones and give them confidence when they make a mistake.

I was one like them. I am who I am today because someone encourage me along the way and told me that I could make it despite my incompetance. The thought of youth flash across my mind. I felt a tingle of youthful passion inside of me. A passion that I used to have.

Middle Man Ministry

Saturday morning. A time in the week where sleeping in till late morning seems to be the best option after a hectic week at work. Breakfast seems like a meal set for extinction for many of us. Lunch would take over as the first meal of the day. For me, it wasn't an option. A day without breakfast wouldn't be a complete.

During the past few weeks, I had managed to gather some of usual hangout mates for breakfast. Not your ordinary breakfast but a table spread of delicious dim sum at one of the most famous dim sum boulevard, Sri Petaling. Eating "siew mai" and "ha ko" coupled with a soothing rich "kopi" seems to be the perfect setting for a crappy conversation. Besides, eating breakfast not only fulfill one's bottomless pit but also the thought that something was achieved at the start of the weekend.

Seeing the success it had with my pals, I decided to extend the invitation to my fellow church mates which I seldom make contac with. My initial attempt to block their calendar early in the week seem to be in vain as many had replied my SMS stating their unavailability. Despite the respond, I decided to go ahead with the plan and rope as many that I could get hold of. In the end, the company of five of myself, my sis, Lavinia, Shung and the entertainment maestro, Sean set together for our breakfast at the super crowded "Yong Chye". It was quite interesting to see the place crowded with breakfast goers let a lone a group of senior citizen who gave us a place to sit and also a pot of highly recommended Chinese tea to savour.

We sat and enjoyed our breakfast that extended till the closure of the shop until the opening another shop that sold "keng chai mai fun" and "tong sui". It was interesting to hear the producer for "One in a million" and the upcoming "A1 Grand Prix" share the nook and cranny of the entertainment world. It was simply not an easy job considering he had just return from work before meeting up.

"When it's busy, its really busy. When it's free, it's really free"

Life in TV seems to spell a routineless work culture. Meeting celebrities seems to be a norm. Mamaking with good looking Jian, playstationing with skinny Adam and writing script for the ever lucious Marion. Fun seems to sum up Sean vocation. Yet, there is intense hardwork especially when it comes to editing 8o hours of footages for an hour episode in the span of three days (that if its a good day).

Flashes of life in the media world went through my mind. It had been a dream for me. A dream that is still a dream waiting to become a reality. I had always enjoyed the life of entertainment. Maybe because tv and movies have become part and parcel of my life ever since I was young. The life of meeting various people, providing ideas for a tv show/movie, conceptualising a story, penning the lines for a character and directing a dramatic scene. However, I believe I will put these dream aside and hope one day I could come to a point in life to achieve my heart desire.
